President and Founding CEO

Bridget Clark Whitney is the President and Founding CEO of Kids’ Food Basket (KFB), a children’s food equity organization that nourishes thousands of children and families in West Michigan facing food insecurity and poverty with daily, healthy evening meals.

Mrs. Clark Whitney began her career with KFB as an intern. During her tenure and under her leadership, Kids’ Food Basket has had consistent year over year growth and has become one of the largest anti-hunger and childhood nutrition programs in Michigan.

Clark Whitney has a B.A. in Community Leadership and Communications from Aquinas College. She earned a M.S. in Social Justice from Marygrove College. Additionally, she holds a Certificate of Non-Profit Executive Management and a Certificate of Fundraising Management from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Bridget was also selected as one of 50 nonprofit professionals from around the world to complete Stanford University’s Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders.

In 2020, Clark Whitney was appointed to Governor Whitmer’s Michigan Community Service Commission to represent an individual with expertise in the educational, training, and developmental needs of youth, particularly disadvantaged youth. In addition, she was named one of Grand Rapids Business Journal’s “50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan.” For two consecutive years Clark Whitney was honored as a “Top 200 Business Leaders” from Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2020 and 2021.

She is an active board member for the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) and serves on the Executive, Development and Membership Committee. She was the 2013 MNA Super Conference Co-Chair and Co-Chair of the Michigan Campus Compact Civic Engagement Institute. She also served as a board member for HQ (Homeless and Runaway Youth Drop-In Center). She is an Advisory Board Member for Michigan Women Forward, as well as serves on numerous food and equity-related committees at the local, state and national levels. She was named the ATHENA Young Professional of the Year in 2013.  

Bridget is a dynamic and engaging speaker. She has delivered several significant keynote addresses including the TEDx Macatawa conference in March 2013, where she delivered her “Do More Good” speech detailing an innovative and effective business model she crafted. She also spoke at Southwest Michigan first Catalyst University in 2014 where she delivered her speech “Creativity Before Capital.” In addition, Bridget co-teaches and presents two conference workshops, “Making the Working Board Work” aimed at maximizing board performance for small to mid-size nonprofits, and “Community Engagement Made Easy: The Hallmark of the Charismatic Organization”. 

Bridget lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Matt Whitney and their two children, Madeline and Jack.
