HOW YOU MADE AN IMPACT
As a community of volunteers and donors, families and children, YOU are working together on our promise to nourish kids’ bodies and minds, grow sustainable food, learn from hands-on experiences and engage as a diverse community to solve childhood hunger.
Here is how you made an Impact in 2017 – 2018:
Together, we nourished kids’ bodies and minds with nutritious, ready-to-eat food each weekday. Sack Suppers are a powerful tool that reduce behavioral issues, lessen sickness and reduce truancy, leading to greater academic achievement and opportunities for local kids.
YOU PREPARED AND DELIVERED 1,159,836 SACK SUPPERS
GRAND RAPIDS6,000 KIDS AT 37 SCHOOLS
HOLLAND800 KIDS AT 5 SCHOOLS
MUSKEGON1,100 KIDS AT 5 SCHOOLS
Together, through hands-on experiences at our farm and in our facilities and our community’s youth were inspired to make a difference through service and leadership opportunities.
MORE THAN 3,000 STUDENTS FROM SCHOOLS THAT PARTICIPATE IN THE SACK SUPPER PROGRAM PARTICIPATED IN 50 FACILITATED PROJECTS.
You were a part of a collaborative community working to cultivate food equity and break down barriers of poverty and hunger. In our second year working on our chemical-free, sustainable farm, the harvest has produced fresh sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, string beans, tomatillos, and mini bell peppers!
GROW FOR KIDS PARTNERS
As a diverse and collaborative community, you were a part of fueling the Kids’ Food Basket mission by planting, harvesting veggies, prepping, decorating bags, and packing and delivering nourishing food. YOU drive our success and help our children thrive.
Good food has the power to shape lives.
Our programs seek to create broader access to good food, plus better understanding of why it matters and where it comes from so that children in every part of our community can be their best in school and life.
