Youth Action Board

The Youth Action Board (YAB) is made up of students from West Michigan high schools. As a member of the YAB, students work to plan and implement projects in their schools and communities to raise food, funds, and awareness for Kids’ Food Basket. The YAB also works as a whole group to plan the annual Go Orange for Hunger Day which takes place in late March. This event raises awareness of the issue of childhood hunger and ties in fundraisers and activities. The YAB plans nearly every aspect of this event.

YAB members are taking a leadership role in the mission of Kids’ Food Basket and in their communities. The goal of the YAB is to educate students about the issue of childhood hunger and empower them to help. Through focused monthly meetings, engaging and relevant speakers, and purposeful and fun activities, students will become more active and informed citizens and stronger leaders.

Students will also develop and increase their skills in the areas of leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and more. They serve as leaders in the community and advocates for change as they tackle a pressing community issue.
