Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. At Kids' Food Basket we offer leadership development and service learning opportunities as well as direct hands on volunteering thought our Kids Helping Kids Program. We are empowering children to strengthen our community. KHK gives youth a powerful voice. It enables creativity and innovation. These kids are truly helping kids.
Kids Helping Kids partners with teachers and schools to help them execute their individual service learning goals and provide support and tools relating to hunger and poverty as well as service projects to assist them in the classroom. KHK is also in the process of partnering with teachers and the LEAGUE Michigan to create service learning curriculum specific to the Kids’ Food Basket mission. This program will be fully implemented during the 2013-14 school year and will educate students, build lifelong advocates.
