Mary K. Hoodhood, founder of Kids' Food Basket, has been selected as a finalist for the 2011 Governor's Service Awards.  This is a huge honor where the Governor acknowledges the contribution made by Michigan volunteers.  Governor Rick Snyder will be honoring the finalists during an awards ceremony entitled, "An Evening with the Stars" on Monday, October 24, at the Gem Theatre in Detroit.  This event will highlight the honorees and feature performances by Michigan musical artists and performers.

Mary K. has been nominated for the Governor George Romney Lifetime Achievement Award, the most prestigious of the Governor's Service Awards, that honors an individual who has taken his/her volunteer service to the highest level - year after year.  Mary K. has shown her passion and dedication for providing nutritious meals to children in greater Grand Rapids by starting Kids' Food Basket.  We are thrilled that Mary K. was nominated for this award and congratulate her on being selected as a finalist.  We wish her well and the best of luck in Detroit!

You can watch a live streaming of the ceremony on Monday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the 2011 Governor's Service Awards
