KFB Wish List Drive
Collect items for Kids Food Basket (KFB's) sack suppers! You can pass out flyers and set up collection boxes at your community organization, church, at a local grocery store, your work place, etc. By facilitating a Wish List Drive you are creating awareness as well as collecting food for hungry kids in Grand Rapids. Another great food drive idea, especially for groups or clubs is the Trail Mix Project. There is a recipe in this packet!!
That Favorite "Something"
Give up any one of your favorites for one month. This can include your favorite coffee drink, fast food, one night out, those random shopping sprees, etc. Then take the money you would have spent on this favorite something and donate it to KFB. To make this even bigger, challenge your coworkers or family and friends to do the same. The cost of each sack supper is $0.62. Just think for the cost of a fast food pop you could feed 2-3 children a sack supper!
More Than A Gift
For those special occasions, birthdays, holidays, in memory or honor of someone special, consider a gift to KFB in someone else's name. Kids Food Basket will send them a card to commemorate your gift and indicate how many meals have been donated in their name ($0.62 is the cost of a sack supper, so $25.00 would be valued at about 40 sack suppers!). You can also make a donation in someone else's name online at www.kidsfoodbasket.org. Be sure to indicate where to send a card.
Cents for Suppers
Decorate a can and ask your family to put all of their change in it for month. This can be done at home with the kids, between departments at your workplace, or a challenge at your church or other small groups you are involved in. Make it a competition and bake a batch of your favorite cookies for the winner. Every little bit helps!! It takes only $0.62 to make just one sack supper!
Casual Fridays
Advocate for (or offer) the opportunity for employees to wear casual clothes by making a donation. A minimum $5 or $10 donation (or whatever you feel is appropriate for your workplace) would be required for one Friday of casual dress; if they doubled this donation, offer two days. In schools where children wear uniforms, you can organize a "Caps for Hunger" day where the students are able to wear hats by making a donation.
Add a Dollar
First contact a store manager to ask if they would be willing to ask their customers to add an extra dollar to their total as a donation to KFB. A grocery store works well. Then contact Cheryl at KFB and get a time that would work for her to come and meet with you and the store manager to finalize the fundraiser.
