Welcome to Holland!
Kids' Food Basket helps nourished children be their best, in school and in life.Through the Sack Supper program, kids receive nutritionally balanced meals, filling a gap that schools and parents often cannot afford to meet.
With the help of the Holland community, Kids’ Food Basket introduced our Sack Supper program at Holland Heights K-7 and Woodside Elementary in May of 2015 and added Jefferson in early 2017. Now we serve over 500 each week day!
Childhood hunger affects the whole community - and the whole community is a part of the solution. Here are a few ways you can join the attack in Holland!
4 Ways to Join the Attack!
- Volunteer! It takes many hands to prepare, pack and deliver over 500 meals each weekday. Click here, to learn how you can join the attack too!
- Drive. Sack Suppers are distributed within the classrooms, and we need your help each week, getting them there. We are currently looking for drivers to donate less than one hour of their time to deliver Sack Suppers. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
- Host a fundraiser or wish list drive. Coordinate a fundraiser or wish list drive with your business, school, or faith community. Click here to find a variety of tools allowing you to use your strengths to raise awareness and funds while strengthening the attack on childhood hunger.
- Share. Connect with us on Facebook or Twitter and spread the word -- more awareness will help us, as we attack childhood hunger!
What motivates us? 1 in 5 Michigan kids experiences hunger each day, and 9,590 Ottawa County kids are food insecure. A lack of consistent nutritious food limits cognitive development and leaves kids unable to concentrate in schools.
Where do we serve? Currently, Kids' Food Basket serves 3 elementary schools in Ottawa County. There are 6 schools on the waiting list. With your help, we can turn these schools into Sack Supper recipients and continue the attack.
Improving and growing locally. We work for the day when every hungry child in West Michigan is fed. With the support of the community, we will expand our methods and practices to serve more daily meals in Ottawa County. Funding for our Holland Sack Supper program comes entirely from the generosity of the Holland community.
